How My Bariatric Journey Inspired Me to Create BeWell

From Bariatric Surgery to Self-Discovery: How BeWell Was Born

Let’s be honest: deciding to have bariatric surgery is a bit like signing up for a rollercoaster you can’t get off halfway — thrilling, terrifying, and with some unexpected loops.

When I started my own journey, I thought I was just changing my body.
but in truth, I would change my mind and my habits and even my relationships.

You see, no one tells you that the surgery is just the beginning — you also need to re-learn how to drink water, or how to explain to your friends what you can eat or not.

The Real Transformation

But between the exhaustion, the adjustments, and those “what have I done” days, something beautiful started to happen — I began rediscovering myself.

I found strength I didn’t know I had.
I found joy in small victories (hello, crossing my legs comfortably again).
And most importantly, I found clarity: I wanted to help others feel supported and understood in this process.

Because it’s not just about losing weight — it’s about healing.
Your body changes, yes, but so does everything else.
And that’s how BeWell was born.

✨ From My Notebook to Yours

When I couldn’t find tools that combined organisation, emotion, and creativity, I decided to create my own. I started writing down my emotions, struggles, and victories — not just to heal myself, but to one day help others.

The Bariatric Surgery Planner, the Journal, and the Colouring Book were created from the same thought:

“If I’m feeling all of this, someone else must be too.”

They’re not just products. They were designed by me, based on true feelings and necessities to be your best companion in this amazing Journey of wellness.

The Mission

BeWell is more than a brand — it’s a reminder that no matter where you are in your journey, you’re not alone.

If my experience can make even one person feel seen, or one recovery day a little lighter, then I’ve done my job.

So, welcome to The BeWell Journey — And if you’re on your own BeWell Journey, I’d love to hear from you. Share your story — let’s heal, learn, and grow together.

BeWell,

XO, Lila Dourado.
