After surgery, everyone talks about the “before and after.”
But what about the in-between — the quiet months when the scale slows down, real life kicks in, and your mind starts catching up with your body?
That’s the part no one prepares you for.
At first, everything feels new — the clothes, the compliments, the little victories. But after a while, it’s easy to feel lost. You’ve worked so hard to become this new version of yourself, yet you’re still learning who that person is.
🌿 The Emotional Weight We Don’t Talk About
Bariatric surgery changes your stomach, yes — but it also stirs up every emotion you’ve ever stored there.
The relationship with food, the self-image, the guilt, the joy — everything comes up for review.
I remember feeling proud and confused at the same time. I could finally see my reflection changing, but I still carried the same fears, the same overthinking, and sometimes, the same insecurities.
Healing isn’t just physical. It’s emotional, mental, and spiritual.
And that’s okay.
✨ Learning to Slow Down
In the beginning, I wanted quick results — smaller clothes, smaller portions, smaller everything.
But soon I realised that wellness isn’t about being smaller.
It’s about being whole.
I started focusing on how I felt, not just what I weighed.
I learned to rest when I needed to.
To celebrate progress that no one else could see — like saying “no” to an old habit, or saying “yes” to myself.
And little by little, peace started replacing pressure.
🦋 From Pressure to Purpose
That’s when BeWell became more than a project — it became a lifestyle.
A daily reminder that healing is not a race; it’s a rhythm.
Every page I created, from the Planner to the Colouring Book, came from this phase — the slow, quiet work of rebuilding balance.
So if you’re in that space where the excitement has faded and the real work has begun, please know: you’re exactly where you need to be.
This is where transformation becomes sustainable.
This is where you meet your true self.
💛 BeWell Reminder
Healing isn’t about perfection — it’s about connection.
To your body, your mind, and your purpose.
Keep showing up, even on the days you feel stuck.
You’re not going backwards. You’re just growing roots.
And Hey, you don’t have to walk this journey alone.
Come say hi on Instagram or TikTok — I’m always sharing tips, reflections, and a few laughs along the way.
Find me at @thebewelljourney and let’s BeWell together.
XO, Lila Dourado.
